Registration is the start. Keeping it is the job.
You built the name. You registered it. Now keep it protected. Attorney-led trademark maintenance and renewal, at a flat fee quoted before work starts.
Already registered? We can help—even if another attorney handled your original application.
Trademark protection needs maintenance.
Federal trademark registrations can last indefinitely, but only if the owner meets the USPTO's ongoing requirements. Required filings are generally based on the registration date—not the date you started using the mark.
Years after registration
File a Section 8 Declaration of Continued Use (or Excusable Nonuse). Eligible owners may also consider an optional Section 15 declaration.
Years after registration
File combined Sections 8 and 9 documents to maintain and renew your federal registration.
Every ten years after that
File additional Sections 8 and 9 maintenance and renewal documents during each applicable ten-year window.
The USPTO generally provides a six-month grace period after these windows close, with additional government fees. Missing the grace period can result in cancellation or expiration.
More than checking a box.
Renewal filings require accurate statements about your trademark's current use. We review the registration and the evidence before filing—not just the calendar.
- Confirm registration status and filing deadlines
- Review the registered goods and services against current use
- Evaluate specimens and other evidence of use
- Prepare and submit the appropriate USPTO documents
- Identify ownership changes or potential filing complications
- Assess optional Section 15 eligibility when appropriate
Flat-fee renewal services.

Good questions. Clear answers.
Can I file my own trademark renewal?
Yes. Trademark owners can submit their own maintenance filings. An attorney can help evaluate the registration's current status, covered goods and services, specimens, and filing requirements.
What if I'm no longer selling everything listed in my registration?
Maintenance filings generally must accurately identify the goods and services for which the mark remains in use, subject to limited exceptions. We can help determine whether deletions or other steps are necessary.
What if another attorney registered my mark?
That's fine. We assist owners of existing federal registrations regardless of who prepared the original application.
What if I missed the deadline?
Contact us promptly. Some filings can still be submitted during a six-month grace period with a surcharge. Once that period has passed, the registration may be canceled or expired and a new application may be needed.
Are state trademarks included?
This page describes federal USPTO registrations. State trademark renewals have different rules and can be reviewed separately.
